After what I can only assume, it’s a lot of hard work on the part of the CGI team for the next sonic the hedgehog film, the redesign of the character was finally revealed in a new trailer.

The initial design has been the subject of many reviews because it did not really look like Sonic or, at the very least, a bad version of the character. His members were a little too long, his teeth far too human and his face looked strangely like a rat. These are my personal catch on the issue, anyway.

The new redesign seems much better. The changes are subtle, but when you combine them together, this new version of the character matches what people expect from a movie version of the famous blue hedgehog. It seems that the rest of the Internet is of the same opinion, the trailer having already collected nearly half a million viewing and more than one hundred thousand “likes” since its publication earlier today.

The character looks a lot more like Sonic now, with slightly shorter members, less salient teeth, a much better facial design and a smaller body doing so much more like a hedgehog and much less to a weasel fallen in a bucket of Blue paint. Although I certain that people who worked on the redesign worked very hard, I think this hard work has borne fruit.
